MacroGo — Privacy Policy

MacroGo is a personal nutrition and body-weight tracker. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how you can delete it. The app is operated by the MacroGo developer ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, contact rico.aarntzen@gmail.com.

Data we collect

We only collect data you provide by using the app. We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

• Account details — your email address and display name. Your password is stored only as a salted hash (Argon2id); we never store it in readable form. If you sign in with Google or X (Twitter), we receive a basic account identifier from that provider to create and link your account. If you register with an email and password, we use that address to send account-related mail you request — such as a password-reset link or an email-verification link — and for no other purpose.
• Health & fitness data — the food and drink you log (including calories and macronutrients) and your body-weight entries and weight goal. This is used solely to show your daily totals, history, and calorie/TDEE estimates.
• Nutrition-label photos — if you attach a photo of a product's nutrition label, that image is uploaded so the product entry can be reviewed and improved.
• App preferences — your chosen language and unit settings.
• Diagnostics — if crash reporting is enabled for a build, anonymous crash reports (stack traces and device/OS type) may be collected to fix bugs. These reports are configured not to include your account details.

Barcode scanning happens entirely on your device; camera images used for scanning are never uploaded or stored.

How we use it

Your data is used only to provide the app's features: tracking your intake and weight, estimating maintenance calories, and maintaining your account. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

Where it is stored

Data is stored on a private server hosted in the European Union and transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection.

Third parties

• Open Food Facts — barcode lookups query the public Open Food Facts database. Product data is community-sourced (ODbL licensed); no personal data is sent.
• Google / X (Twitter) — only if you choose to sign in with them, and only for authentication.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data until you delete it. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app: Profile → Delete account. This immediately and irreversibly removes your profile, diary entries, weigh-ins, and products from our server.

If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion via our account deletion page or by emailing rico.aarntzen@gmail.com.

Children

MacroGo is not directed to children. Because it is a diet and weight-management tool, it is intended for adults and is not offered to users under 18.

Your rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Most of this is available directly in the app; for anything else, contact us at the address above.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
